Fitting: E14, E27, B22 & GU10
A light bulb base size cap adapter lets you get all your lighting organised and use your favourite bulbs no matter which base they are or what fitting your light has.
With our smart adapter you choose the base it fits into and the base of your bulb. Convert all the main bulbs – E14, E27, B22 and GU10 – and fittings from one to the other.
- E14 and E27 fittings are the Edison screw bulb types.
- E14 is smaller, often found in lamps.
- E27 is the larger screw bulb.
- B22 is a bayonet base.
- GU10 bases are spotlights.
There’s always that one light fitting that takes a different kind of bulb from all the others in your house. You can simplify your life and your bulb-buying by adding a cap adapter. Having all your lightbulbs as the same type makes it much easier. And if you are converting to energy saving LEDs you will get 30,000 hours of use from your bulbs, so you won’t have to be up and down a ladder all that often.
Perhaps your favourite kind of bulb doesn’t fit the base of your light fittings. Rather than replacing the whole light fitting you can use a size cap adapter instead. Screw versus bayonet can be a hot topic and cause a big debate.
Any reason why your fittings and bulbs are mismatched can be solved with a light bulb base size adapter. It even takes smaller E14 fittings and makes them fit the full size E27 bulbs. Or vice versa. Easily switch to or from bayonets, with one little addition to your bulb.
When choosing your adapter you need to know the size and type of the bulb and the light fitting. Perhaps the light itself takes B22 bayonet bulbs but you would prefer to use an E27 screw bulb. In that case you need to choose E27 under “Bulb Cap Type (male)” and B22 under “Fitting Type (female)”.
The bulb cap type refers to the bulb you want to use – not what the light currently accepts. It’s the new bulb you want to be able to put in and use. The fitting type is what the light fitting currently takes. Then the adapter will have a B22 bayonet base that fits into your light fitting. Inside the adapter will be an E27 screw bulb fitting – following the example above.
So each part fits nicely into the other and you can use whichever bulbs you want with whatever kind of light fitting you have.
Just make sure you are entering the right type of bulb – E14, E27, B22 or GU10 – under the correct male or female part of the adapter. The fitting is what your light fitting already has and the bulb cap type is what you will be using.
